October Sixth 2026 — Amblin for Animals
When I quit smoking and had my stoke scare, I started walking as part of my rehabilitation. At first I could only get to my alley. Then down my allaey and around a quarter of my block. From those small beginnings, I have increaed my fitness to include the ability to cover miles and miles on my near daily jaunts.

Now I am ready to turn those miles to conquer an even greater challenge.
On October 6th I will be walking the Poudre River Trail, from Windsor to Greeley, Colorado.
Having come to smoking at an early age (pretty girls were giving out tiny packs of free cigarettes on the streets of Portland) quitting smoking is the hardest thing I have ever done. And I quit opiates.
The thing I hated the most about smoking (other than how I smelled) was how unfit I always felt. I hadn’t fully recovered from the wear and tear from my addictions when I had my stroke. That forced the matter.
Today, I do still have the miles of any sixty-something-year-old who fairly abused their body or abused their body fairly. I have pushed back a few years on putting on new miles (hi, neighbors!).
Can I actually do it? I think I can. I hope I can. I am sure going to try. Check in October 6th and if you can, please help out the animals.
