Past is prologue. Not an original thought. Writing science fiction, by necessity, requires reflection. The context is as wide as a civilization. It can also be interior seen through a minds eye., If sci-fi is anything it is writing alternative futures. And every future has a past.

The past is a broad topic, making a fertile ground for new ideas. What if WW II, but set in a forest of sentient sloths? Empires ruled by irons fists or gentle direction? A drug addicted hacker, party to a crime on the a dangerous side of a megalopolis? A confused assassin on the run in a city where you can’t hide?

The world we live has a history that is infinite and influential. It has a story from ant to alien. The world has more starting points than can be counted, and every minute that goes by is the past. Time to write about it.
