I am a #weirdo. I have been so since 1979. Before there were nerds or geeks, there were us #weirdos. Very few of us spouted Monty Python dialogue, went to Star Trek conventions that were nothing more than a small ballroom at the local Red Lion, and were also, weirdly obsessed with prog rock.
I didn’t let it shame me, using it as part of my defense as the class clown and later to make a small core group of friends that shared the same loves, by then punk and Tom Petty. Still I stayed the #weirdo of even that weird bunch.
I think #weirdo is underrated, and works as an affectation or as affection. Weird is looking at the world, turning it lightly on its head, and seeing what knowledge falls out, however random.
#Weirdo is as good a hashtag as any. I stay weird, and you should too.
